Tourists in Reykjavík More Satisfied than Ever
Almost all tourists who visited Reykjavík last summer were satisfied with their stay and would recommend the city to others, according to Visit Reykjavík's latest survey. The survey reports the most positive results ever measured.
91% of tourists claimed to be satisfied or very satisfied with their stay in the city and 94% said they would recommend Reykjavík to others.
The survey, conducted in summer 2009 by Tourism Research & Consulting, also shows that popular activities amongst tourists in Reykjavík include dining out, shopping, visiting museums and galleries, going on day tours in and around Reykjavík, visiting thermal pools and spas and experiencing events and nightlife.
An increase in most of these leisure activities indicates that tourists are doing and spending more while staying in the city. This goes hand in hand with the finding that more and more tourists state that they find Reykjavík to be good value for money. In fact, the survey results show that tourists think Reykjavík represents more value for money than ever before.
The financial crisis that hit Iceland a year ago had the effect that the Icelandic krona fell considerably, making Reykjavík a more affordable destination for foreigners. In fact, Reykjavík is now widely presented as one of the best value destinations to visit in 2010. Guidebook publishers Lonely Planet and Dorling Kindersley (Eyewitness Guides) recently made Iceland and Reykjavík one of their top picks for travel in 2010.
Visit Reykjavík certainly looks forward to another successful tourism year 2010 and to receiving even more satisfied visitors!
