Reykjavík is already famous for its vibrant culture and nightlife, but certain occasions are particularly special.

The city of Reykjavík and its neighbouring towns host numerous festivals throughout the year, including Culture Night in August, the Winter Lights festival in February and the Festival of the Sea in June.

Art Festival

Reykjavik Art Festival May 12th – June 5th 2010
This is Iceland's premier cultural festival since 1970, bringing together the best in local and international theatre, dance, music and visual art. The festivals programme offers a variety of selected exhibitions, concerts, dance, theatre and opera performances. Along with its focus on Icelandic culture past and present, the festival hosts many outstanding international artists and performers. www.artfest.is

Days of Kopavogur May 8th – 14th 2010
A colorful cultural festival in Kopavogur town, that lasts a whole week. The festival offers a program for all ages including theatre, arts, music, workshops and sports.  www.kopavogur.is
