Reykjavik is characterised by an unusually vibrant artistic community. In recent years, the city has become well known for its happening music scene. The established Iceland Airwaves music festival draws an international crowd every year to experience what is new in Icelandic and international rock and pop music.
Reykjavik Jazz Festival is also held in Septermber/October every year.
Reykjavik has a very eclectic music scene and it goes far beyond what you might have heard about Bjork and Sigur Ros. The scene is made up of many different genres, with everything from hardcore punk rock and indie to chamber music and hip-hop.
You can practically take in a concert every night of the week.
The Iceland Symphony Orchestra
