Join the Reykjavík Art Museum´s docent for a tour through the exhibitions of Jóhannes Kjarval (1885-1972) and Hildur Bjarnadóttir (b. 1969) every Friday at Kjarvalsstaðir at 2 p.m.

Kjarval´s expressive paintings changed the way people in Iceland thought about art and nature. He worked outdoors, capturing the landscape and slowly started to pay more attention to the micro cosmos under his feet, merging it with fantasy and folklore.

Bjarnadóttir exhibits recent work based on an elaborate and interesting process. Like Kjarval, she explores the nature by her feet, collecting plants in order to dye thread and fabric for her work. Her research based project, entitled Ecosystem of Colors, explores questions of belonging and locality.

Admission is included in museum ticket.
