The drawing sessions are based on a method that underpins Sara’s artistic process. She works with spontaneous drawing as a way to express and organize inner unrest. The method often involves entering a creative state—such as after a walk in nature or a swim—and allowing the drawing to become a channel for emotions, brainwaves, and thoughts. These drawings later form the basis for sculptures and installations, where motifs are shaped in clay, cast in concrete, and etched into glass to cast shadows on walls.

Sara Riel is the fifth artist with work in progress at Ásmundarsafn , where artists are now offered space to work on their own projects or processes. At Ásmundarsafn, Sara will explore the inner landscape of the human being—emotions, brainwaves, and neural signals—and examine how we encounter and process them. How do they take shape and become part of a shared experience?
