The Wonderworld of Polyhedra is a family-oriented workshop in the field of product design, inspired by the geometric experiments of architect and designer Einar Þorsteinn Ásgeirsson. The workshop is led by product designer Þórunn Árnadóttir, who spent a research residency at the museum a few years ago, during which she delved into Einar Þorsteinn’s mathematical experiments and subsequently developed a scented candle.
Þórunn is known for her product designs such as the Pyropet candles and the Sasa clock. Her work spans a wide and diverse field of design, driven by curiosity, a spirit of experimentation, and an interest in culture, traditions, materials, and techniques. She works as an independent designer in Reykjavík and is also the lead designer and co-founder of the international design brand 54 Celcius, along with Dan Koval.
The workshop is free and open to everyone. It is part of the monthly family program of the Museum of Design and Applied Art and the town of Garðabær, which provides a window into various fields of design and craft.
