Ásgrímur Jónsson collection

Ásgrímur Jónsson (1876–1958) was one of the pioneers of Icelandic visual art and the first Icelandic painter to make art his main profession. Ásgrímur was born on March 4th, 1876 on the farm Suðurkot in Rútsstaðahverfi in South Iceland's Flói region. In 1897 he moved to Copenhagen, where he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Art from 1900 to 1903. Ásgrímur stayed abroad until 1909 and spent his last winter in Italy. On his way to and from Italy he stopped in Berlin and Weimar and saw, among others, the works of the French Impressionists, which made a deep impact on him.

Sigurjón Ólafsson Museum

The Sigurjón Ólafsson Museum is dedicated to exhibiting works by the Icelandic sculptor, Sigurjón Ólafsson. It was founded in 1984 by the artist's widow Birgitta Spur who had his studio at Laugarnes converted into an exhibition space and to house a large collection of his works. These include sculptures, sketches, and drawings, as well as biographical material. In addition to its exhibition of Ólafsson's works, the museum sponsors various cultural programs.

BORG29

The newest food hall in town is located in Borgartún. There are nine restaurants on-site with great chefs, and they all offer a delicious menu so that everyone can find something to their liking. The popularity of food halls has grown significantly in recent months. BORG29 is the fifth food hall to see the light of day, but before that there are Grandi-Mathöll, Hlemmur-Mathöll, Mathöll-Stjörnutorgi and Mathöll Höfði.

Alþingi - Parliament House

Parliament House, which stands on Austurvöllur square, was built in 1880–81. Two annexes have been added to the original building, Kringlan (the Rotunda) in 1908and Skálinn in 2002. The garden of Parliament House is Iceland's oldest public garden. Dating from 1893–95, it was largely the work of parliamentarian/bank director Tryggvi Gunnarsson. In 1867 Althingi resolved to mark the millennium of the settlement of Iceland by holding a national festival in 1874, and by building a Parliament House in Reykjavík, of Icelandic stone.

One of the oldest stores in town that sells second-hand clothing and used products as its been open since 1986. Spúútnik specializes in vintage clothing and brand products. The store has two locations, one on the main street Laugavegur and the other one is in Kringlan shopping mall

ABC Children's Aid Market

ABC Children's Aid's utility market is run to support our aid work. It is located at Nýbýlavegur 6, 200 Kópavogur. Both new and used products are for sale, such as clothes, household appliances, furniture, and lots of other things.
The market's opening hours are between 12:00 and 18:00 every week day and between 12:00 and 16:00 on Saturdays.
