TAKE OVER: Happy Pinoy

A joyful, musical and tasty takeover! Happy Pinoy is a loose collective of Filipinos living in Iceland exploring artistic expression beyond karaoke. Pinoy is the shortened version of Filipino and used to refer to people of Filipino descent (collectively Pinoy but can become Pinay if specifically female).
We are the Asian cliche because we laugh, cook and sing but for this takeover, we want to show that there is more to what makes us happy in Iceland.

DRIF

A smoking hot dance event at the Hub! DRIF is an internet radio station located in the old kiosk at Lækjartorg. A selection of DJs from DRIF will relocate to the Hub for the night.
DRIF is hosted by Atli James Justinsson Rebbeck who has organized and maintained the project since its inception in May 2023. He is also known as DJ and musician Jamesendir and founder of record label LÍM.

Óþægileg blæbrigði

Kling & Bang hosts two exhibitions by artists of different generations; Guðrún Marta Jónsdóttir’s exhibition Silfurgjá and Magnús Sigurðarson’s exhibition Óþægileg blæbrigði - Gleðisögur af Depurð og Dauða, both of whose works have a strong connection to America.

Here & Now: Safe(r) Spaces

Panel featuring participants from Sleikur, Andrými and Svigrúm who share their experiences and ideas about safe spaces, duty of care in radical social spaces and how to safeguard guests at events, festivals, meetings and parties. Happy hour at the bar and concludes with an open discussion.

17:00-18:30 Here & Now: The Dance Scene
Panel discussion where dance artists featured at the festival reflect on the dance scene in Iceland. What’s changing, who’s dancing and are there meeting places for different styles and genres?

20:00-22:00 Dance at the Hub
Dansverkstæðið hosts an evening featuring some exciting works-in-progress, a conversation and a look at the dance history project Secondhand Knowledge. The night will culminate in a smoking hot danceoke session!

Drag Youth Night

A new and fresh generation of drag artists blows the roof off the Festival Hub!

The drag kings, drag queens and drag creatures on stage are all a part of a drag performance workshop led by Anna Íris Péturs in cooperation with prominent members of the Icelandic drag scene.

POPera

Free entrance and everyone welcome!
Follow a purple werewolf on his quest across the universe to find his long-lost father. It's club kid culture meets classical instrumentation in a contemporary art project composed by Diana Burkot with lyrics and performance by Michael Richardt. POPera’s style references musicals, opera, folk, pop, punk and progressive rock. It features multimedia technologies in a contemporary, visual and expressive art project which blurs the borders between concert and performance art.

Icelandic Saga & Heritage Association

ISHA – Icelandic Saga & Heritage Association was founded by 18 members in 2006. The association have now around 80 members, from all regions of the country. ISHA is a forum for collaboration for those involved in Saga & Heritage tourism in Iceland, especially regarding publicity, quality and professional standards (museums, exhibitions, Saga sites etc). It initially focused on the heritage of medieval Icelandic literature, the first centuries of Iceland’s history and medieval culture.
